BLOOD BOWL(R) MODEM PLAY
Manual Addendum
Blood Bowl modem play will support modem speeds from 2400 BPS to 19200 BPS,
as well as direct connections through a parallel port null modem cable.
*******************************
Accessing Blood Bowl Modem Play
*******************************
From Blood Bowl's main GAME SETUP menu select OPTIONS by clicking the left
mouse button or highlighting it with the cursor keys and pressing the
[SPACEBAR]. This will display the OPTIONS menu. At the bottom of the
OPTIONS menu is the LINK selection, left click the mouse or highlight it with
the cursor keys and press the [SPACEBAR] to display the modem setup screen.
You will now need to configure your modem settings and determine the Host
and Remote Blood Bowl Coaches.
COM - Change this setting to tell Blood Bowl where your modem is installed.
COM ports 1,2,3, or 4 may be selected. Use the left and right cursor keys
to toggle or click the left mouse button.
IRQ - For every COM setting there is a corresponding IRQ setting. Listed
below are default settings for most COM ports:
COM Port IRQ
1 4
2 3
3 4
4 3
Select the IRQ which matches your COM port setting by using the left and
right cursor keys or clicking the left mouse button. For convenience
Blood Bowl offers IRQ settings of 2 through 7. The settings other than
3 and 4 are available for users with special COM port and IRQ configurations.
BAUD - This setting allows you to adjust the speed at which your modem will
connect to a remote PC waiting to play Blood Bowl. The settings offered
are 2400, 9600 and 19200 baud per second. (Please note that both
the dialing and receiving PC must be set to the same modem speed, that
being the slower of the two)
TYPE - By toggling this setting you can choose between a modem connection
or a direct connection through a parallel port null modem cable.
DIALING - For users with a rotary phone modem line you will want to change
this setting to Pulse. Tone is the default setting and used with standard
touch tone phone lines.
*****
Once all the modem settings have been made you are ready to connect with
another Blood Bowl Coach to do battle. If you are the HOST computer (you are
receiving the call) then you will want to select START GAME. START GAME
will tell you Blood Bowl is now waiting for a call and connection.
If you are the REMOTE computer (you are making the call) then you will want
to select JOIN GAME. JOIN GAME will allow you to enter the phone number and
dial your waiting Blood Bowl opponent. Type the phone number, including
a "1" and the area code for long distance calls, in the dial window. Next
press the [SPACEBAR] or left click the mouse on the arrow icon in the lower
right of the window. Blood Bowl will now dial your opponent and connect
to the HOST computer.
Once two PC's have connected, the HOST computer will control all game
settings and menus (i.e. All teams, playing surfaces and other in pre-game
options). All normal Blood Bowl options are available except the following:
replays, quick play and season play. At any time during the moving team's
turn, F10 may be selected to end the game and disconnect. Otherwise, at the
completion of a game the HOST PC may select "Exit to DOS" to disconnect or
begin a new game with the on-line opponent.
